1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using ShiftCoast, you agree to these Terms of Service and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the platform.

2. Platform Overview

ShiftCoast is a marketplace platform that connects independent workers with businesses seeking temporary or shift-based services. ShiftCoast is not an employer, staffing agency, or employment service. The platform facilitates connections and payment processing but does not supervise, direct, or control the work performed by users.

3. Independent Contractor Relationship

All workers using ShiftCoast are independent contractors (1099) and not employees of ShiftCoast or the businesses posting jobs. Workers are solely responsible for:

  • Taxes
  • Insurance
  • Licenses or certifications
  • Compliance with applicable labor laws
  • Their own equipment, transportation, and work methods

Businesses are responsible for complying with all applicable workplace and labor regulations.

4. User Accounts

Users must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account. Users are responsible for maintaining the security of their login credentials and for all activity under their account. ShiftCoast reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. Eligibility

Users must be at least 18 years old to use ShiftCoast. By using the platform, users confirm they meet this requirement.

6. Job Postings & Applications

Businesses may post temporary or shift-based opportunities through the platform. Workers may apply to available jobs at their own discretion. ShiftCoast does not guarantee:

  • Job availability
  • Worker availability
  • Hiring outcomes
  • Earnings
  • Uninterrupted platform access

Businesses are solely responsible for job descriptions, workplace conditions, and compliance with applicable laws.

7. Payments & Platform Fees

Payments are processed securely through Stripe. ShiftCoast operates using platform service fees.

Business Fee: Businesses are charged a platform fee in addition to the job amount when posting or funding jobs.

Worker Fee: A platform fee may also be deducted from worker payouts upon job completion.

Applicable fees may change over time and will be displayed within the platform where applicable.

8. Escrow & Payouts

Funds paid by businesses may be temporarily held by the platform or payment processor until job completion or dispute resolution. Worker payouts are processed according to the platform payout schedule and may be subject to payment processor delays or verification requirements. ShiftCoast does not guarantee exact payout timing.

9. Cancellations & Refunds

Businesses and workers are expected to honor accepted job commitments. Refunds, cancellations, penalties, or compensation may vary depending on timing, platform policies, and dispute outcomes. ShiftCoast reserves the right to review cancellation activity and take action against abuse or repeated no-shows.

10. Outside Payments

Users may not bypass the platform to avoid applicable fees. Attempting to arrange or accept payments outside ShiftCoast for jobs initiated through the platform may result in warnings, account suspension, or permanent removal from the platform.

11. Professional Conduct

Users agree to behave professionally and respectfully while using the platform. Prohibited conduct includes:

  • Harassment
  • Discrimination
  • Fraud
  • False information
  • Unsafe behavior
  • Payment circumvention
  • Spam or abuse

ShiftCoast reserves the right to suspend or remove users who violate platform standards.

12. Background Checks & User Information

ShiftCoast does not guarantee background checks, identity verification, licensing verification, or the accuracy of user-provided information unless explicitly stated. Users are responsible for exercising their own judgment before accepting, posting, or participating in jobs.

13. Workplace Safety

Businesses are responsible for maintaining safe working environments and complying with applicable workplace safety laws. Workers should exercise reasonable judgment and immediately report unsafe conditions or inappropriate behavior.

14. Reviews & Ratings

Workers and businesses may leave reviews and ratings after completed jobs. Reviews must be truthful, respectful, and based on actual experiences. ShiftCoast reserves the right to remove reviews that violate platform policies or community standards.
